The Arthur and Sandra Irving Cancer Immunology Symposium
Hosted by Arthur and Sandra Irving, this working symposium (from June 24-27, 2024 in Boston) will focus on advancing the careers of young scientists doing research in cancer immunology. ~20 accomplished faculty mentors will share their research career experience in cancer immunology with 35-45 promising young scientists (post-docs and starting faculty).
Participation in the symposium will provide an opportunity to develop strong ties with senior faculty mentors while learning about the different paths to success in cancer immunology research. Participants will learn how excellent science is advanced by formulating questions, designing, and executing studies to address these questions, hiring, mentoring, collaborating, leadership, raising funds, and publishing. Sessions will cover these and other key areas for a successful research career, and include lectures, small discussion/working groups with faculty mentors, and review sessions to integrate lessons learned. Participants will also work on writing a strong research statement to support their next stage of career development. In addition, participants will have daily one-on-one meetings with faculty to get personal advice on their careers.
Applicants will be selected by a committee based on the applicant’s research achievements, research proposal and recommendations by their mentors.
The application (including statement of interest, research proposal, biosketch, and nomination letters from 2 references) is due on Jan. 5, 2024. Participants will be informed of acceptance by late March.
