Can histamine be part of the reason why there is such a variability in immune response?   If so, then we can prime patients with a potent type 1 histamine receptor blocker which will decrease inflammation and allow more activation of immunosuppressing type 2 receptors.   The medication is levocetirizine and it had been shown to protect rats from lung damage in a 2018 LPS model study.   The drug is currently cheap and over the counter but most hospitals don't carry it because they have never had a need for it.
