A Message from the President

No organization in the Immunotherapy field values early career and transitioning scientists more than the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC)! We know the future of cancer immunotherapy depends on the next generation of investigators. To recognize this, SITC established the Forward Fund in 2012 to stimulate the future of science through the development and application of cancer immunotherapy by early career scientists and clinicians. Since then, more than $6 million has been awarded to support research and education initiatives for early career investigators.

The Forward Fund attracts the brightest minds to the cancer immunotherapy field through special awards, fellowships, travel awards and the one-of-a-kind Sparkathon experience. The Forward Fund was established to advance the science of cancer immunotherapy by engaging early career investigators to tackle the hurdles facing the field.

Thanks to our donors, hundreds of early career scientists’ careers have been shaped by the Forward Fund. To make a gift and inspire the next generation of investigators, you can click here. If you make your gift before December 31, 2023, you can double your impact through the generosity of an anonymous donor who will match your gift
The SITC Annual Meeting always provides a special time to shine the spotlight on early career and transitioning investigators. SITC’s Early Career Scientist committee organizes stellar Pre-Conference Programs like the Grant Writing Workshop and Meet-the-Expert Lunch, and hosts a dedicated networking reception where scientists can come together to learn and network.
When visiting the Annual Meeting exhibits in San Diego, be sure to Refresh and Recharge with the Forward Fund in the center of the Exhibit Hall. You’ll see all the amazing early career scientists making a difference through your Forward Fund support. From the Fellowship Recipients to the Travel Awardees, we honor their impressive and novel work, and celebrate the bright future that lies in their capable hands.
The CheckPoints Band performance has become a mainstay of the SITC Annual Meeting experience for the past ten years! It is also the perfect place to support young investigators. You can become a Friend of the Society or a CheckPoints Groupie with a gift to the Forward Fund. Even if you can’t make it to San Diego, you can still support the next generation by ordering a limited-edition CheckPoints Surfin' for a Cure Tank Top
I am highly appreciative of our donors and our early career and transitioning scientists who choose to grow their career with SITC! I am excited to continue to advance cancer immunotherapy with all of you.
