Regular and Early Career Investigator Award Abstracts: The submission period is April 22, 2026, through June 25, 2026, at 5 p.m. PT.

Late-Breaking Abstracts - Clinical Only (LBA): The submission period is July 15, 2026, through Sept. 10, 2026, at 5 p.m. PT.
There is no limit to the number of authors that can be included on an abstract. All authors must have at least one institution listed, and there must be a minimum of one corresponding, one primary and one presenting author for each abstract.
Unfortunately, SITC does not accept any Regular or Early Career Investigator Award Abstracts after June 25, 2026 at 5 p.m. PT and does not accept any LBAs after Sept. 10, 2026 at 5 p.m. PT.
You do not need to be a SITC member to submit a Regular or Late-breaking Abstract. You must be a SITC member to be considered for the Early Career Investigator Award.
The only items required to stay within the 400-word count are the background, methods, results, and conclusion. The following items are not included in the 400-word count limit:
There is a limit of 2 tables, figures or images that can be included on an abstract. All figures, tables and images must be numbered (i.e.: Table 1, Figure 1, or Image 1) in the title field and cited in the abstract text.
The following items are requested, if applicable, when submitting an abstract:
Early Career Investigator Award Abstracts must also include:
Clinical Trial In Progress and Clinical Trial Complete abstracts must also include:
Abstract submitters must answer whether the abstract is based on a clinical trial presenting clinical data, and mark whether it is an in progress or a completed clinical trial. If the abstract incorporates basic or pre-clinical research, mark that it is not a clinical trial abstract.
Enrollment Report Data Table: Clinical trial abstract submitters are asked to complete the Enrollment Report data table, which follows the NIH data template. This data will not be shared with abstract reviewers and will not be included in the publication of accepted abstracts. It will only be accessible to SITC staff and reported in aggregate.
Late-breaking Abstracts must also include:
Once an abstract is submitted, the presenting author is automatically sent an email notification asking them to complete their Conflict of Interest (COI). The email contains a link to the online COI form. They will need to log in to their SITC account to access the form. Should the presenting author have any issues, they can reach out to education@sitcancer.org. The submitting author can check if the COI has been submitted by contacting education@sitcancer.org.
After you have submitted your abstract, you will receive a confirmation email. The presenting author must click the link in that email, which will take them to the online COI form. You will need to log in using your SITC account to access and complete this form.
SITC understands the crucial need for collaboration and discussion surrounding clinical trials in progress. This abstract submission category aims to allow for open dialogue surrounding such trials.
All phases of clinical research may be considered for inclusion. Although there are no absolute criteria, SITC provides the following general guidelines:
Background:
Methods:
NOT acceptable in a Clinical Trial in Progress abstract:
All abstracts submitted under this category are subject to peer review and possible rejection.
Regular and Early Career Investigator Award Abstracts will be notified on July 31, 2026. Late-breaking Abstract notifications will be sent on Sept. 28, 2026. Late-breaking Abstracts not accepted will not have the opportunity to present at SITC.
The deadline for Regular and Early Career Investigator Award abstract withdrawal or changes, including presenter changes, is Aug. 7, 2026.
This deadline is set because abstract information is pulled for publication immediately following this date and cannot be edited after that. Submit withdrawal or change requests in writing to education@sitcancer.org.
For all questions regarding abstracts please contact education@sitcancer.org.
LBA submission is solely for abstracts with late-breaking data from interventional clinical trials in humans — not for abstracts submitted "late." LBAs highlight novel and practice-changing in-human clinical studies, and only apply to data that would not otherwise have been presented as an abstract at the 41st Annual Meeting.
If a Late-breaking Abstract is not accepted, it will not be published or presented at the meeting. There is no longer an option for it to be considered as a Regular/Early Career Investigator Award Abstract.
Examples of acceptable LBAs (results not available or significant by the regular abstract submission deadline):
LBA submission closes on Sept. 10, 2026 at 5 p.m. PT.
No, an application is not required. LBAs should be submitted directly by Sept. 10, 2026 at 5 p.m. PT.
LBAs must address interventional clinical trials in humans. LBAs addressing basic science or translational data with no in-human studies will not be accepted. LBAs may contain data from preclinical studies, but must also include clinical data from in-human trials.
Authors submitting a basic science or translational study must submit their abstract by the Regular/Early Career Investigator Award Abstract deadline of June 25 at 5 p.m. PT. If some results are not yet available, authors are encouraged to submit by the deadline and include the new data in their presentation.
LBAs must include the following in their abstract:
Expanded plenary sessions are available for LBA oral presentations at SITC 2026. In addition to oral abstract presentations, oral presenters are invited to present their abstract as a poster and an ePoster as well. ePosters can be uploaded by the presenting author (more information provided in the Speaker Management System).
The deadline for Late-breaking Abstract withdrawal or changes, including presenter changes, is Oct. 5, 2026.
This deadline is set because abstract information is pulled for publication immediately following this date. Submit withdrawal or change requests in writing to education@sitcancer.org.
You may view your submitted abstract by logging into the abstract submission system and clicking on "Abstract Submissions."
After abstracts are reviewed and selected, abstract submitters are sent an email notification stating whether the abstract was accepted and, if so, what type of presentation it was accepted as. The submitter will also be asked to accept or decline participation in SITC 2026.
If SITC does not receive a response by the stated deadline, SITC will assume you agree to present and will include your abstract.
The abstract number is the number assigned by SITC and provided in the notification email. This is the number made public for your abstract. The abstract ID is assigned by the submission site when you submit; it is used for administrative purposes and is not made public.
The abstract number is determined by the category selected when the abstract is submitted and the last name of the primary author.
The abstract number determines where your abstract will be listed in all publications, including the Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer (JITC) Supplement, and on the SITC 2026 website and meeting app. For abstracts selected for poster presentation, it also determines where your poster will be located in the Poster Hall.
Once assigned, abstract numbers cannot be changed.
Yes, the presenting author must register for the Annual Meeting to present an abstract. Submitting an abstract does not register you for the meeting. All presenting authors are responsible for registering themselves and booking their own housing, if needed.
Unfortunately, SITC does not offer free registration to abstract presenters.
Full Regular and Early Career Investigator Award Abstract content will be embargoed until 9 a.m. ET on Nov. 3, 2026.
Full Late-breaking Abstract (LBA) content will be embargoed until 9 a.m. ET on Nov. 6, 2026. After that, the abstract content will be published in the JITC Supplement. This does not include additional data available on a poster or any updated/new data in oral presentations.
Regular and Early Career Investigator Award Abstract titles will be released on Oct. 2, 2026 on the SITC 2026 website. Late-breaking Abstract titles will be released on Oct. 29, 2026 on the SITC 2026 website.
The deadline for Regular and Early Career Investigator Award Abstract withdrawals, including presenter changes, is Aug. 7, 2026. The deadline for Late-breaking Abstract withdrawals, including presenter changes, is Oct. 5, 2026.
These deadlines are set because the abstract information is pulled for publication immediately following these dates and cannot be edited afterward. Submit requests in writing to education@sitcancer.org.
If you would like to change the presenter before the applicable withdrawal deadline, submit your request in writing to education@sitcancer.org.
Any abstract previously accepted and/or published (by any meeting or publisher) must contain substantial new data in order to be considered. This includes Trial in Progress abstracts. Contact education@sitcancer.org if you have questions about substantial new data.
Both oral and poster abstract presenters will be informed of their presentation details in their notification email sent on July 31, 2026 for Regular and Early Career Investigator Award Abstracts and Sept. 28, 2026 for Late-breaking Abstracts.
