A Message from the President
Dear Colleagues,
The Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer (JITC) is the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer’s (SITC) official journal. The journal publishes articles on all aspects of tumor immunology and cancer immunotherapy and, in doing so, aims to enrich communication and advance scientific understanding among the many stakeholders in this rapidly evolving field. The meteoric success of JITC since its inception nine years ago is unprecedented.
Leading the charge of this increasingly prestigious publication is Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Pedro Romero, MD, Head, Div. of Clinical Onco-Immunology, University of Lausanne & University Hospital of Lausanne. I had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Romero who is a long-term SITC member and who has served as Editor-in-Chief of JITC for nearly 10 years. He has helped to grow the journal from a relatively small online publication to one that now boasts a Journal Impact Factor greater than 13 and Scimago Journal Rank over 5.
I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation and the glimpse into his background and achievements. From realizing his passion for science at a young age in Columbia to his research activities with peptide vaccines and immune biomarkers to what is currently on his music playlist, we covered a host of topics in this latest fireside chat.
Thank you very much to Dr. Romero – a true pillar of the tumor immunology field – for joining me this month.
Sincerely,

Patrick Hwu, MD
SITC President
