Dr. Brian Gastman MD is a double boarded plastic surgeon and otolaryngologist and is Professor of surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He is also the current Chair of the Plastic Surgery Research Council (PSRC). He is the surgical and co-Director of the Cleveland Clinic melanoma and high risk skin cancer program. His clinical specialty includes the comprehensive treatment of skin and head and neck cancer. He has had long interest in head and neck microsurgical reconstruction and led the team for the Cleveland Clinic’s last 2 face transplantations.
Academically, Dr Gastman has an extramurally funded basic science lab from both federal and industry sources. His research focuses mostly on tumor immune evasion and chemotherapy resistance. His work is extended as both local and national primary investigator on numerous systemic therapy based clinical trials for cancer patients. His work has led to hundreds of peer reviewed publications, book chapters and national presentations.
