MILWAUKEE – The Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) is pleased to announce the return of the Cancer Immunotherapy Winter School, the society’s week-long, innovative educational program, on Jan. 13-17, 2020, in Houston.

The SITC Cancer Immunotherapy Winter School will feature leading experts in the field who will provide attendees with a deep understanding of the core principles and clinical applications of tumor immunology and cancer immunotherapy. The curriculum covers the fundamentals of cancer immunotherapy and features separate tracks, clinical and research, which makes it ideal for those who are newer to the field, or those wishing to review critical fundamental. The program also allows participants to tailor their experience by selecting the educational path most relevant to their learning goals.

"The SITC Cancer Immunotherapy Winter School is a key component of the society’s commitment to promote the careers of immune-oncology investigators and to develop future leaders of the field,” said SITC President Mario Sznol, MD. “We were very pleased with the success of the first program held earlier this year and expect future iterations to be even better. The programs are effective because SITC can bring leading international investigators as faculty and create an environment for sharing and discussing new data and concepts.”

During the program, Cancer Immunotherapy Winter School participants will also learn recent advancements in drug and biomarker technologies and their clinical application, and best practices in clinical trial design and clinical trial data analysis methods. In addition attendees will also be able to network, developing new relationships in this intimate setting through small group breakout sessions and networking roundtables.

“The SITC Cancer Immunotherapy Winter School is a wonderful opportunity for early-to-mid-career researchers and clinicians to learn the principles of tumor immunology that the clinical success in cancer immunotherapy are built on,” said SITC Immediate Past President Lisa H. Butterfield, PhD, a program organizer. “Following the science is how the next wave of successes will happen. Beyond the education, attendees will have opportunities to meet colleagues and expand their professional network as they build their careers in our field.”
