Cancer Immunotherapy CONNECT, powered by SITC, is the home of the cancer immunotherapy community and a unique hub for information resources and connecting with others in the field
MILWAUKEE – With the explosion of information and organizations related to immunotherapy of cancer, there is a real need to provide a resource-destination where all stakeholders can find the information they need and want. The Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) will unveil a sneak peek of its new communities-based website to attendees of the 31st Annual Meeting & Associated Programs on November 9-13, 2016 in National Harbor, Md. The forthcoming website, Cancer Immunotherapy CONNECT, powered by SITC, will provide practitioners, researchers, patients and patient advocacy groups easy access to exchange scientific information, network with colleagues and tap into educational resources and more, all focused around cancer immunotherapy research and therapeutic approaches.
CONNECT will provide a one-of-a-kind online community where users interested in cancer immunotherapy can collaborate, share ideas, ask questions and get and stay connected. CONNECT will be the clearinghouse to help cancer patients, and medical and academic professionals alike, navigate a vast array of cancer immunotherapy-related online resources into a single community to improve the communication and education for all stakeholders. This type of comprehensive community does not currently exist; SITC is thrilled to offer this open-access and free expansive resource.
On November 11-12 in the exhibition hall, attendees of the Annual Meeting will have the opportunity to experience a beta version of CONNECT by setting up their user profile, experiencing the new design and layout of the website and navigating the new communities function.
SITC is also powering a cancer immunotherapy education portal, “connectED.” This new educational community will connect users to live and online educational offerings with continuing education activities. connectED will utilize an adaptive online education environment that will become the go-to learning portal for patients, practitioners, and researchers seeking personally curated educational activities and resources focusing solely on the cancer immunotherapy.
“As the leader in tumor immunotherapy education, SITC is addressing the learning needs of physicians and other medical professionals, as well as the needs of patients and caregivers, by creating an online community and adaptive learning environment, said SITC President, Howard L. Kaufman, MD, FACS.
“This aggressive SITC plan will help break down silos in the research community and allow more rapid information sharing and improve communication within the field," Kaufman added, "and this important SITC strategy helps support the overarching goals of Vice President Joe Biden’s Cancer Moonshot Initiative that is focused on achieving 10 years’ worth of cancer research in only five years".
Cancer Immunotherapy CONNECT and connectED powered by SITC, will help make the word “cure” a reality for cancer patients everywhere. The full site will launch in early 2017.
